Primary School
Children in primary school represent a wide age range – they enter school with limited knowledge of the alphabet and leave as knowledgable readers. Hence, we have divided this section into Picture Books, Lower Primary and Upper Primary.
In the Lower Primary section you will find picture books that the children would have been read to, and thus making the task of decoding the written script less daunting. There are books that are more longer but can be read in one sitting and those that will take a few more sessions.
The Picture Books section has been included here as well, incase a reader who needs more support with context (pictures provide contextual cues to aid reading) and/or familiarity with the book then those from this section can be selected.
The Upper Primary section has books that will require several sessions to read. Titles in this section have been chosen keeping current issues in mind that young children or their friends would be dealing with or hear in the news – stories are a great way to explain these intricate issues and develop sympathy and empathy for those involved.
